What comes to your mind when I say “Rose”? What comes to your mind when I say “sewage”? What comes to your mind when I say “musk”? What comes to your mind when I say ‘a new book just printed, fresh from the press’?

If your face lighted up smelling the rose, if your nose wrinkled at the bad smell of the sewage, if you sat up right fresh smelling the musk, if you drew in a deep breath and said ‘yes. it is fresh’, then you have a memory full of smells!

I have such a memory. I ’smell’ things when people name the objects.

I simply love perfumes. One of my chosen one is the Calvin Klein range of perfumes.

The very Scent of the perfume makes me become fresh and uplifts my mood. Perfumes have the ability to change the moods of the people. They uplift. They charge up people.

Having good lovely perfumes around us is a good way of keeping up our spirits.

U.S. President Barack Obama rejected the restructuring plans from General Motors and Chrysler on Monday. With European governments getting into the fray to help out the struggling lenders, all this sent absolutely weak signals to the market. The markets tumbled down on renewed worries about the health of the global financial system.

Obama said the Head of GM, Wagoner’s departure was a recognition that the company needed new direction, but he added that the government did not want to take charge of GM.

“What we are interested in is giving GM an opportunity to finally make those much needed changes that will let them emerge from this crisis a stronger and more competitive company,” Obama said.

“We cannot, we must not, and we will not let our auto industry simply vanish. But we also cannot continue to excuse poor decisions,” he said.

When the movie Marley & Me hits stores today, consumers will be able to buy the family comedy as a standard DVD, a Blu-ray Disc and a digital copy — all rolled into one package.

It’s 20th Century Fox’s first “triple play” release, a practice Hollywood insiders predict will become increasingly common as studios seek to ease the transition to the high-definition Blu-ray format and at the same time keep people from simply downloading movies to their PCs.

“We’re giving people the option to enjoy the movie in three different ways,” says 20th Century Fox’s Mary Daily. “The digital copy can go to the kids, so they can watch it on their iPods. Then you’ve got the Blu-ray Disc, which you can watch on your big home theater, and the DVD (for) the car or the bedroom.”

The concept, Daily says, is “to make it flexible and portable and fit in with their lifestyles.”
Disney pioneered the three-formats-in-one-package approach earlier this year with High School Musical 3 and has two more such “Combopacks,” Bolt, which is new in stores, and Bedtime Stories, due April 7. “We want to be a one-stop source for all current and future programming needs for the entire family,” says Disney’s Bob Chapek.

In tough times, one needs careful planning and preparation to ensure a smooth and comfortable life.

As we pass onto our old age, we get into more and more difficulties. Our dependency on others increases. We need help to get around. Help to move about. Help in almost everything. We pass onto the second childhool of our life.

The old age is also the time when there will be lots of medical care requirements. There will be increasing expenses on medicine. Increasing requirements for hospitalisation.

All this results in higher and higher expenses on medical care, both in terms of hospital charges and also in terms of doctor charges and the prescription drugs.

But, the senior citizens need not be dependents on others for the medical expenses.

There is Medicare.

Once there is Medicare the medical costs are cut down drastically. This will enable senior citizens to get their routine checkups, get those preventive services which would normally cost a lot and those , prescription drugs which normally end up costing a bomb. Even hospitalisation, whenever required, does not pich one’s pocket.

If somebody is already receiving Social Security or railroad retirement benefits, they are typically qualified to get part of the Medicare benefits for free, which is also a boon.

There are two ways in which Medicare benefits can be obtained.

The basic Medicare Plan is a fee-for-service plan. It covers a number of health care services and a few prescription drugs. So, by paying a low monthly premium, one takes care of the medical services. This means that one can visit any doctor that accepts Medicare by showing the medicare card and make the required co-payment.

The medicare supplemental plans cover more services. They also have lower out-of-pocket costs compared to the basic Medicare Plan. Some of these even cover prescription drugs. However, these allow access only to a select set of doctors and hospitals.

Medicare Part A is the hospital insurance plan which pays for the inpatient care in a hospital .

If you enroll in medicare part B , you will get medical insurance and covers many of the medical services such as doctor’s services. These are not covered by the Part A.

Medicare Part C is the Medical Advantage Plan that combines both Part A and Part B and some additional services.

medicare part D is Medicate Part C added with the prescription drug coverage.

President Obama’s review of U.S. strategy in Afghanistan revealed widespread failures in development aid programs, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said before a United Nations conference today in The Hague.

There’s been “very little credibility for what’s already been invested,” Clinton told reporters yesterday en route to the Netherlands. “A lot of these aid programs don’t work.” The new U.S. approach involves “looking at every single dollar as to how it’s spent, and where it’s going, and trying to track the outcome,” she said.

The one-day summit on Afghanistan will be an opportunity to share those findings with 72 other nations and more than a dozen international organizations, and discuss how each can contribute more effectively to development and anti-terrorism efforts, Clinton said.

Obama wants to push back against the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan that threatens to undermine efforts to create a stabile government able to secure its territory and improve the economy and living standards.

No. I am not referring to a ‘blind’ date. Far from it. I am suggesting that one should get all kinds of facts and figures before getting on to a date. Justin Garner did not join the state highway patrol because he wanted to stay on his small hometown’s police force. In just five years, he’d already been named Officer of the Year.

When a call came in on a gunman who was shooting up a nursing home, Garner was the only one on duty and without any fear, and any backup, he simply went there to do a job.

He had a .40-caliber Glock pistol. He entered the building to confront the mad shooter, Robert Stewart, 45, in the hallway. But, before he could fire, he was already shot 3 times in his foot and leg. However, Garner fired his weapon once and hit Stewart in the chest.

A day later, Garner’s name was there all over the place. “The most fearless officer” they all said.
“If that’s not heroism, I don’t know what is,” said Police Chief Chris McKenzie, who later added: “You can train all you want to, but it comes down to whether you have what it takes.”

“This is one of the few instances nationwide where the lone officer took care of the bad guy,” said Minzghor, who’s also a police officer.
