Facebook has been launched in Swahili. The language is being spoken by more than about 110 million speakers in Africa. This was made possible by a group of Swahili scholars who have launched it with the permission of Facebook. Facebook is spreading in the last five years in Africa especially in East and Central Africa. This is where the most of the Swahili speakers live. Next could be the hausa version in west Africa and the Zulu version in Southern Africa. This might also in a way safeguard the lanauge and prevent it from extinction.
