Goldman Sachs pays 1.1 billion to US govt

The US government is reaping rich dividends for the billions of dollars it lent to the then sinking banks and financial institutions like Goldman Sachs. As on date over 80% of the TARP loan given to the banks and investment bankers have come back.
Apart from repaying the TARP loan in full, Goldman Sachs has paid 1.1 billion dollars extra money to the US government to redeem the warrants it issued to the government. Every institution has issued warrants to the US government in proportion to the loan taken during the crisis, and they need to repay not only the loan amount, but also redeem the warrants from the government, in order to start operating with the freedom they want.
