A galaxy in the southern sky called Centaurus was studied from 1847 by john Herschel.
Giant cannibal galaxy Centaurus A had a unique appearance of an ellipse but was opaque due to the dust lane in the central part of the galaxy. Now, infrared space observatory has revealed that a smaller spiral gas rich has been found and some churning has given rise to stars of a new generation.
Also the structure of a parallelogram has come into light instead of elliptical structure.
The 16,500 light year wide structure has become twisted, warped during the galaxy merging. Centaurus is at a distance of 11 million light years.
