Karzai declared unopposed winner of Afghan elections

The Afghan election re-run planned for this week is not going to happen, because the opposition candidate Abdullah has withdrawn from the race. The UN has declared Karzai as the winner of the elections as a result, and he is expected to rule the country for the next four years till next election.
This might pave the way for further US troops to move into the country to battle the terrorist network spreading across the country.
