US car industry crashes to multi year low

The US car Industry has reported a massive drop in sales for the month of August 2010, thanks to the huge base effect created due to the cash-for-clunkers program run by the US government last year, to prop up sagging sales.

Except for Chrysler, every other car company operating in the US has reported a sharp drop in sales and the sales has dropped by 21% over the year ago figures, and by a sharp 7% over last month figures.

The car sales in August has gone below the one million mark and car companies are not expecting major recovery in the coming months, as unemployment continues to be very high and there are no signs of higher recruitments in the near future.

Flood waters receding in Pakistan

Pakistan worst flood water has begun to recede restoring back the citizens into its place. The breach which is situated near Thatta has battled to store its city back to normal. The Indus River will still have high floods for another day shows the flood forecasting center of Pakistan. The massive floods in Pakistan has been triggered by the torrential monsoon rains which has affected 167 million people. The most affected province of Pakistan was the southern Sindh out of 23 districts 19 was ravaged with flood waters. The volume of the Indus river has increased by 40 times its usual size due to the floods.
The Sunday saw Sujawal flood and the whole population of 100,000 evacuated and waiting for rescue through boats. The flood has left one million people displaced in last few days and receiving aid from many countries. The country mainly depends on farmland which has been washed away by swathes of water due to flood.

The US steel industry is struggling for the last few years and many of the companies are running on huge losses. The US government has been progressively cutting down the import duty protection levels with a view to making the industry competitive, but it has proved to be a big negative for the entire industry.
That has been used as an effective tool by the Chinese manufacturers to dump their low cost products into the US markets and kill the US industry further. The US government has to look in to the huge government subsidies being provided by the Chinese government to keep their factories running at the cost of US factories.
The US government has to start raising the import duties on the steel products, which in turn would help the US industry to run at higher capacity and bring in more local employment. It would also help the US to cut down on expensive imports and bring down the trade deficit.
The US steel industry’s future is absolutely in the hands of the US administration. What the Chinese government is doing to their steel industry needs to be replicated by the US government to the US steel industry.

Singapore stock exchange(SGX) has invested $250 million in a new trading system. The amount of $250 million was invested in the month of June by the SGX.SGX claims that the new system is going to be the world’s faster online trading.
The first quarter of the 2011 will see the new trading system in use says SGX. The name of the new trading system is called Reach will execute trading soon. The trading by the new trading system will be executed within 0.09 milliseconds. At present the trading system executes trade 3-5 milliseconds say reports from SGX. The new trading system Reach has data centers across many cities like New York,Chicago,London and Tokyo.
The transaction costs in Tokyo will be reduced soon so that the processing time will get decreased across the above cities. The present year ASX(Australia)announced that it will not roll out the old system but will increase the trading capacity. The trading of ASX will be increased for 5 million trades per day at present the it is 2 million currently.

US wants to curb outsourcing

A decade was needed to enter into the current phase of economic mess and will need some more time to move forward said the president.
